The Cisco GLC-LH-SM fully complies with the IEEE 802.3z 1000BaseLX standard. However, their higher optical quality allows them to reach 10 km over single-mode fiber (SMF) versus the 5 km specified in the standard.

The GLC-SX-MMD SFP Module is Cisco’s industry-standard SFP and is a hot-swappable input/output device that plugs into a Gigabit Ethernet port/slot, linking the port with the fiber-optic network. SFPs can be used and interchanged on a wide variety of Cisco products and can be intermixed in combinations of IEEE 802.3z- compliant 1000BaseSX, 1000BaseLX/LH, or 1000BaseZX interfaces on a port-by-port basis.

The Cisco SFP-10G-LR 10GBASE-LR Module supports a link length of 10 kilometers on standard Single-Mode Fibre (SMF, G.652).

The Cisco 10GBASE-LR module supports a link length of 10 kilometers on standard Single-Mode Fiber (SMF) (G.652). SFP-10G-LR-S does not support FCoE.

The Cisco 10GBASE-SR Module supports a link length of 26m on standard Fibre Distributed Data Interface (FDDI)-grade Multimode Fibre (MMF). Using 2000MHz^*km MMF (OM3), up to 300m link lengths are possible. Using 4700MHz^*km MMF (OM4), up to 400m link lengths are possible.

The Cisco SFP-10G-SR-S 10GBASE-SR module supports a link length of 26 meters on standard Fibre Distributed Data Interface (FDDI)-grade Multimode Fibre (MMF). Using 2000 MHz^*km MMF (OM3), up to 300-meter link lengths are possible. Using 4700 MHz^*km MMF (OM4), up to 400 meter link lengths are possible. SFP-10G-SR-S does not support FCoE.
